🚨 BEARS 53-MAN ROSTER SHAKEUP COMING? BEN JOHNSON’S SHAMAR TURNER ADMISSION MAY HAVE EXPOSED A MAJOR PROBLEM 🚨

CAM JORDAN HEADS TO CHICAGO + CALEB DEMANDS MAHOMES-LEVEL SALARY + WHO WILL MAKE THE CUT?-Bears News

Just when Bears fans thought the roster was starting to come into focus, a surprising new concern may have emerged that could completely change Ryan Poles’ plans before Week 1. And honestly, it all starts with one position that suddenly looks much thinner than anyone expected.

The biggest revelation from Chicago’s offseason program might not be about Caleb Williams at all. Instead, it could be the growing uncertainty surrounding Shamar Turner. During minicamp, Ben Johnson made a comment that immediately raised eyebrows when discussing Turner’s ACL recovery. Rather than offering a clear timetable, Johnson admitted the summer would be important and said he hoped Turner could join training camp “at some point.” Those words may not sound dramatic on the surface, but for a player expected to play a major role this season, they reveal something important: the Bears still don’t know exactly when he’ll be ready.

And that’s a problem.

Because once you look beyond Montez Sweat, the edge rusher room suddenly becomes filled with question marks. Austin Booker flashed potential late last season but remains largely unproven. Dayo Odeyingbo is working back from a serious Achilles injury. Turner is still rehabbing a torn ACL. Daniel Hardy remains primarily a special teams contributor. Suddenly, what looked like a solid group on paper starts to feel dangerously thin.

That’s why there is growing belief Chicago may not be finished adding talent. In fact, some insiders believe the Bears almost have to bring in another veteran pass rusher before the regular season begins. Ben Johnson’s comments sounded less like optimism and more like an acknowledgment that nobody truly knows where Turner is in his recovery process. If Turner starts the year on the PUP list or short-term injured reserve, Chicago could find itself scrambling for depth at one of the most important positions in football.

Meanwhile, several roster battles are quietly heating up across the team. At wide receiver, Scotty Miller appears to have gained significant ground after a strong offseason program. Many expected the final receiver spot to remain wide open, but Miller’s performance during OTAs and minicamp may have given him an early advantage. That leaves players like JP Richardson fighting an uphill battle heading into training camp.

The offensive line battle is becoming equally fascinating. Rookie Luke Newman continues generating buzz after receiving opportunities with the first-team offense during minicamp. His rise could come at the expense of Jordan McFadden, who now appears to be on the wrong side of the roster bubble. McFadden was once viewed as a relatively safe depth option, but the coaching staff’s decision to give Newman valuable reps with the starters could be a major clue about how they view the competition.

On defense, the Bears may also be facing difficult decisions at defensive tackle. Veteran Contavious Street appears to have the inside track over James Lynch thanks to his NFL experience and higher upside. Sixth-round pick Jordan Vandenberg is expected to make the team, but nothing is guaranteed once the pads come on and physicality becomes a larger factor.

The secondary remains one of the deepest groups on the roster, although injuries have complicated the evaluation process. Rookie Malik Muhammad has already turned heads after receiving nickel snaps during offseason practices while Kyler Gordon and Cam Lewis dealt with injuries. That extra opportunity could end up accelerating his development and strengthening his case for a meaningful role sooner rather than later.

Still, everything circles back to the same concern.

The pass rush.

Because no matter how exciting Caleb Williams looks, no matter how improved the offensive line becomes, and no matter how much talent exists in the secondary, the Bears need consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks if they want to compete in the NFC.

And right now?

There are simply too many unknowns.

Ben Johnson’s comments about Shamar Turner may have sounded harmless, but they could end up becoming one of the most important developments of the entire offseason. If Turner isn’t ready, Ryan Poles may be forced to make another move. And if that happens, don’t be surprised if a veteran edge rusher currently not even on the roster becomes one of the biggest stories of training camp.

Because the Bears may have discovered a problem they weren’t expecting.

And the clock is already ticking.
