Sidney Crosby took a look back at key moments from his career on Saturday as he marked 20 years in the NHL. During an interview with Sportsnet, Crosby shared memories from the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first Stanley Cup parade of the Crosby era in 2009, focusing on a moment with former teammate Marc-Andre Fleury.

In a photo shown to Crosby from June 15, 2009, Crosby and Fleury stood side by side, holding the Stanley Cup as fans cheered them on along Pittsburgh’s Boulevard of the Allies. Crosby immediately recognized the picture and recalled the excitement of that summer celebration.

“Just going through the streets during the parade, and this view is one that stands out forever,” Crosby said, describing the parade. “Just seeing how the people in the parking garages and people everywhere in the city was pretty special. And obviously, Flower (Fleury) had that huge sequence in game seven to get the win, so, yeah, that was pretty cool moment to be sharing that with him.”

Crosby spoke warmly about Fleury, saying he was “the ultimate teammate.”

“Just the ultimate teammate.” Crosby said, “Really. Unbelievable attitude every single day, smile on his face, you know, competes so hard, just willing to do anything to win. So, yeah, just really happy to have shared a lot of years with him, and I’m glad that he’s still doing it. It’s not easy.

“There’s not a lot of goalies that have done what he’s done. So he’s an incredible player in person.”

Drafted first overall in 2005, Sidney Crosby has spent 20 seasons with the Penguins, achieving many memorable moments with his teammates. He has won three Stanley Cups (2009, 2016, and 2017) with Fleury on his side. Looking back, the celebration with Fleury is a memory Crosby will never forget.

Sidney Crosby is close to reaching 600 NHL goals

Sidney Crosby is close to reaching 600th career goals. He recently signed a two-year contract with the Penguins after leading the Penguins with 94 points last season and missed the playoffs by a small margin. So far this season, Crosby has been dependable, scoring six goals and 10 assists in 16 games.

In the Penguins’ 4-2 win over the Capitals, Crosby assisted on an Erik Karlsson goal in the first period. He also had three shots on goal and two hits. However, Crosby didn’t record points in the previous game against the Hurricanes, so his goal count remains at 598.

At age 37, Sidney Crosby continues to play well, with five goals and four assists in his last six games.
